Speaker 1:

Hey guys, how is everyone? It's finally fall and, honestly, you guys, every single year, I wait for this moment. I know that a lot of people are more summer girlies and you enjoy the summer and, as much as I love the summer, I literally wait for fall and then literally anticipate winter every single year. I am a winter person. I live for fall fashion and that crisp cool air. I think that there's nothing better than actually fall winter in Cairo, specifically, where I live, because we do get a little change of season, but it's not so bad that it kind of like throws you off. Anyways, I thought I would do a cool little episode for you guys and I'm gonna call it the seven day fall, winter reset or glow up, I'm not sure yet, but one or the other, because I think that there are certain practices that you can do to get yourself back in the mood of that like cozy season where everyone starts to like feel like they'd love to to, you know, grind a little bit more, get back to work a little bit more and go all in, so to speak. But I really did take the summer off this year, and I took the summer off this year for the first time in a very long time and I really felt super good about it. To be be honest with you, I enjoyed my summer. I ate whatever I wanted. I didn't really work out that much, I didn't teach that much, and it was bliss. But as a true Libra, as a true Enneagram 8 manifesting generator in human design, I mean, please look those things up if you don't know much about them. It's really interesting and I do believe in these things the archetypes of who we are as humans and how we function. I always end up itching for the grind again. So, without further ado, these are my seven tips to glow up and reset for the fall winter season and guarantee that you'll enter the new year honestly feeling fantastic. Okay, so let's get into it. So my first tip for glowing up and resetting in the fall is going back to moving your body in a way that feels good for you, and for me, that can mean a lot of different things.

Speaker 1:

I do a lot of videos on my Instagram my specifically my Pilates Instagram, pilates by Noor and I talk about the differences between mat Pilates, classic reformer legree, what you need to do to lose weight, what you need to do to tone up and, I'm Honestly, I'll do more videos like this because I feel like they really resonate with you guys. But I don't think it really matters what you do in a sort of transitional period like this, as long as you get back to it, and if that means like going out and buying a cute workout set from like a brand like Humanity Code, for example you guys, I know I love, you know I love them. You guys, I know I love, you know I love them. Um, lululemon, aloe, you know, getting a new pair of sneakers. I'll try and do a curated edit for fall for you guys related to this reset, with some, with some like sneakers and some like workout fits that I think are super motivating and incredible, and just pick something that you would love to do, something that'll help you start fresh, even if it's like literally cozy pilates on an app in your living room. Um, there's a girl called pilates, by briany. Actually, I really like her app. I use it a lot. She has a very chill way of teaching and I enjoy it, and she doesn't require too much equipment as well and not too much time in terms of commitment.

Speaker 1:

So I think the best thing you can do is kind of get yourself into a routine. Pick one thing okay, whether it's Pilates, whether it's the gym, whatever it is and get there twice a week. And if you can get there twice a week for two weeks in a row, you can add another day. And you can get there twice a week for two weeks in a row, you can add another day and you can get back into it. Nobody asked you to grind in the summer. It's really not the moment for it. You know, even if you did go to a couple of pilates classes in the summer, even if you were consistent, let me tell you, I mean, ultimately nobody has it locked in in the summer, but to lock in in the winter, you gotta start now. You have to start now. So that's my first tip, guys find something that you really love and do it at least twice a week and build on that.

Speaker 1:

My second tip and I feel like I just sound like a broken record with this one, but it's commit to daily walking, and I really do mean daily at this point. I don't mean every other day, I don't mean let's skip days, of course I. I mean in the weekend you'll be walking or dancing or whatever, hopefully when you're out with friends, since wedding season is coming up. So those definitely count as steps. Your whoop, your tracking device that ruins every single wedding outfit on your ankle or hide it like at the top of your arm so it doesn't ruin your outfit. But yeah, I mean like, aim for 8k steps a day.

Speaker 1:

I know everyone says 10, but 10 can be, honestly, if you live in a city like Cairo, like me, really difficult. Like for me to get 10k steps a day, I have to really walk for a chunk of time in the morning and then a chunk of time at night, and I don't live in a walking city, it just is what it is. If you're a New Yorker, I'm so jealous of you for that reason alone, if anything. I mean truly it not that easy, but like if you can even get 5k steps, guys, even 5k steps a day. Literally walking is the most underrated form of cardio, of ramping up your metabolism, fat burning, of everything. And I say this and I'm going to keep saying this because people don't believe you, but it is the truth. My third tip and I just posted a TikTok about this, so definitely go check it out at the dot curation on TikTok and it's basically hydrating and not hibernating in this weather, literally.

Speaker 1:

Get yourself a jug. It doesn't matter what it is, it doesn't need to be a Stanley. By the way, they leak, which I mean is unfortunate. But there are other types of jugs. It doesn't matter at all what the brand is. Put a bunch of lemons in there, slices, squeeze a lemon, pinch of salt, a little bit of apple cider vinegar and a ton of ice and chug that thing at least twice a day. Okay, and it sounds so taxing and annoying and like boring, oh my god, to walk around and it's heavy. No, no, it makes such a difference, you guys, it makes such a difference. And in summer we're drinking diet cokes and we're drinking sugary cocktails and smoothies and we're not really drinking water because you don't actually think that you need to, but especially in the winter. You don't feel thirsty anymore because the weather is crisp, you're not hot, so you forget to drink water. So make sure to remember to hydrate, because this is going to be your key to not looking crusty in the winter. So we're still in fall. You have time.

Speaker 1:

My fourth tip is journaling and reflecting. This is something that I love to do in the fall. I started doing this last September and now it's been a year of me doing the morning pages that I learned from the Artist's Way, which is an incredible book by Julia Cameroon. Any person who is feeling stuck in their life, anyone who really wants to kind of dive deeper into their personality and ask themselves the big questions without like going to therapy or necessarily doing anything drastic like that. Honestly, I really, really believe in this book and, like I said before I've described it before, but I'll say it again now the morning pages are essentially three pages that you write in a notebook that's designated to this and you pick up a pen and you write consistently for three pages straight.

Speaker 1:

You just brain dump and it's the most therapeutic, calming, relaxing, empowering practice ever therapeutic, calming, relaxing, empowering practice ever. Because if you are someone who, like myself, has a lot of ideas, a lot of energy, a lot of creative output that they want to get out there. Sometimes that helps to just dump on the page, and the book itself is sort of like a 12-week course. I know it's crazy, right? So I think I started it in August and I took it with me and I traveled in September last year and I kept on going till October and when you're done with it, you keep on going and I don't do it every day anymore. I used to do it every day for the course, but I do it when I feel like I need it and I always have my morning pages notebook and I always recommend this to everybody. It's a life changer.

Speaker 1:

So my fifth tip is waking up earlier. So I know that this is counterintuitive, but in the summer we stay up late. Sorry guys, the sinuses are killing me from the change of season. But yeah, I mean, in the summer we stay up late and we wake up a little later and things are just like so, so chill. You know, the day is longer, the sun's out longer, etc. In the winter I always feel like that's my moment to get up early, to catch that like pre-sunrise moment, to get that cool air in my face and wake up and figure out what I'm going to do with the day or my life or whatever it is.

Speaker 1:

Contrary to popular belief, I do not believe in being a morning person in the summer. I think winter is a moment for that. You get less hours of sunlight a day anyway, so you may as well get up a little bit earlier and kind of seize the day, guys, even if it's just 30 minutes minutes, even if it's just once or twice a week. I always talk about this, and my most important tip for waking up early is not to put any pressure on yourself to do any like crazy morning routine or 5am club protocol or miracle morning. You can literally just get up, light a candle if the sun's not up yet, make a cup of tea and just stare at nothing, and it will change your day, I promise. Try it, let me know, okay. So my, my six, oh, my god. Wow, anyway, siri.

Speaker 1:

My sixth tip is a closet detox. This is something that I like to do pre and post summer. I think they call it spring cleaning for some reason, but I think we should definitely do it in the winter as well. This is so therapeutic. It really goes without saying. Figure out what your winter uniforms are. Get the coats out. Put away everything else. If you need to store things that you know. If you need to like reorganize your home, get it done. Just go in with a fresh perspective. Obviously, if you need storage solutions, you know where to go. It's yourstorageef on instagram. Love them. They're like lifesavers for me. And, yeah, just closet detox guys. Give some stuff away. Give some stuff to your sister, to your brother, to the neighbors. Give, give, give, give, give as much as you can. Believe me, I'm in the era of giving rather than accumulating things I don't need, and it feels so much better than being a consumer all the time. It's the curation era, after all, isn't it? So that's kind of the theme of this podcast.

Speaker 1:

Okay, my final tip is to try to go back to natural, and this is something I'm going to challenge myself with as well. I just got my gel nails done and, to be honest, I love them, but I feel like it's time to let go and, as tragic as that sounds, I have my highlights in my hair and I miss my black hair. I miss my dark brown, chocolate black hair. I miss my natural nails and my bushy eyebrows and, to be honest, I think winter is a time to rock that look and I feel like we just do so much to our bodies in the summer to just get that vibe, including getting tanned. But ultimately, I challenge you because I need an accountability buddy for this one. Guys, this is something that I'm not currently practicing, but let's do it together because I really want to do it, which is going back to natural, because it's always when I look at pictures of myself with natural nails, natural hair, natural brows, natural everything I always think to myself wow, that is that's what that's when I look best. That's my best look. So if that is the case, then why do we always go into the cycle of doing all the things and then realizing I could have just stayed myself anyways?

Speaker 1:

Those are my seven reset tips for a fall winter. Glow up. I hope you guys do at least one. I hope you implement them. If you do, please dm me. Let's encourage each other, let's push each other, let's go into the new year literally feeling better than ever. And that's it, my loves. I hope you enjoyed this episode. I'll do a curation for you by the end of the week that matches what I discussed today with a couple of products that I love for the fall and have a beautiful month ahead.
