Nour Solo: Transforming Mornings From Chaos to Calm with Simple Shifts

Nour Hassan Season 10 Episode 126

Ever felt the morning rush sets the wrong tone for your day? I get it. I used to jolt out of bed straight into a whirlwind of caffeine and chaos until I discovered the magic of slowing down. My unscripted solo session takes you through my journey of transforming mornings from manic to meaningful. Picture this: setting your alarm just 15 minutes earlier. That gentle nudge into wakefulness can pivot your entire day. We'll chat about the power of "vision board points" as an alternative to daunting resolutions, aligning your morning routine with the dreams you truly cherish for the New Year.

Curious about what happens when you swap your morning coffee for something different? I’ve dabbled in alternatives inspired by Dr. Andrew Huberman's wisdom, and wow, what a difference it makes! From warm water with lemon to the occasional cold-pressed juice, these simple shifts have revolutionized my mornings. In this episode, you’ll hear about my trial and error process of crafting a routine that resonates with balance and well-being. Join me on this journey of intentional mornings, where small changes set the stage for a harmonious and fulfilling year ahead.

Speaker 1:

Hey guys, so I'm recording this solo episode Pretty last minute. To be honest, it wasn't exactly planned and I decided you know what? I'm just going to get it out because I think a lot of people these days are trying to plan and think of their New Year's goals and I don't want to call them resolutions because word is a bit overused and I think we're kind of over it. I think a lot of people have started to kind of realize that, you know, a resolution is kind of a really big word to use for the first day in January. I think I like to call them more vision board points or Haiga along the lines of my dreams. You know what are your dreams for the new year?

Speaker 1:

One of my incredible followers, I really am so blessed with the best, best, best audience and community I'm so blessed with the best, best, best audience and community asked me to share with you guys on the question box today what is a morning routine or a couple of morning habits that I find really helpful. And although I'm releasing a full solo on morning routines soon, I'll share with you guys a couple of things that I found really, really life-changing, over trial and error of, about, I want to say, two to three years. So the first thing I really want to share with you is to start your day in the morning by not jumping out of bed immediately if you can, not jumping out of bed immediately if you can, and it's a little bit of a sort of luxury or I don't want to call it a luxury, maybe more of a habit that needs a little bit of time to acquire. But let's say you have to get out of bed at six, try to put an alarm for 545. And just give yourself 15 minutes to wake up and kind of slowly get out of bed. Even if you have kids guys, even if you have a bus to catch, whatever it is, the rolling out of bed it really throws off the day. That I really think has made a big difference, and I kind of forced myself to do this. No matter what time I wake up, I have a very, very, very like kind of I don't know what to call it it's a habit of jumping and that sudden jolt out of bed it really kind of starts the day off on a bit of a shaky or crazy or eccentric note.

Speaker 1:

The second thing that I find as such a useful drinking something that is not coffee the first thing in the morning and for those aliens or this point does not apply to you then you are super lucky. But also I need to know how, like, can you guys comment on any of my posts and let me know, like, how is it that you don't do coffee? I love a good coffee, I love a good matcha, and lately I've been loving a dirty matcha which is a coffee matcha maabad, but it's a life hack. Uh, you're gonna have to stay tuned for our new season because I have a guest that's gonna tell us all about this. Um, so, yeah, I mean anything other than coffee. First thing, warm water with lemon, just warm water, just water, just, let's say, a tea juice. I mean cold pressed.

Speaker 1:

I have a good coffee first thing in the morning and then after an hour, hour and a half or so, you can have your coffee. And the reason I say this I got this habit from Dr Andrew Huberman and I love his podcast. It's a life-changing podcast. But the thing about this habit is that it really really makes a big difference. That wake up and chug the coffee vibe is a really aggressive way to kickstart your body and your system and your digestion, according to him, and it really does not serve you. So I think a better way to do it honestly is to pick anything else, have anything else in your system best case scenario, a little bit of food, a date or two, something like that and then go ahead and enjoy your coffee. The third thing is, as morning habits that I really enjoy is something that I used to, I'm like what are you saying? Why would this make a difference, etc.

Speaker 1:

But the third thing is, if you can and I think and hopefully everyone can grab your hot drink that you make and let's say at this point it is your coffee and take a 15 minute walk outside in the sun in the morning and if you have a baby, put your baby in the stroller. If you have a dog, take the dog. If you don't have either, like myself, you take yourself and you take a walk, guys, and it doesn't need to be a fast walk. A date makes a difference, the days that I do this from the days I don't, because it's night and day, and it just allows you to set your circadian rhythm, maybe plan the day, set a couple of goals, get your head straight, and it's just an incredible way to start the day, better, in my opinion, than any early morning workout. Okay, so those are three things so far, which is, you know, don't jump out of bed in the morning, try to take your time anything before coffee and then enjoy your coffee or whatever caffeine of choice you like, and the morning walk.

Speaker 1:

These three habits I would like to call the trifecta, which is a word that I love and I would have loved to have come up with it. They are literally life changers. And the only thing I would add to this, because I want to keep it realistic, like I don't want to go into the 20-25am routine and all that because, yeah, I do do that sometimes, at least once a week, as you guys know, but it's not for everyone, so I want to make it really, really realistic. Last thing is get yourself like a gratitude journal or your notes or any journal, and try to jot down or think, or say out loud or pray or whatever three things you're grateful for. And this is one that comes in and out of my life. It's not a constant, but every day I try to really think about it, but it is a life changer.

Speaker 1:

I mean, this one is really a life changer, especially on the days where you think, oh my God, nothing is really happening or going right or wrong or whatever. I think it has so much impact and it's not a cliche, it's not oversaid or exaggerated, it's not any of those things I've tried and tested and truly really believe in this one. And you guys know, on the curation, we do not share anything that I haven't really really tried, nothing that I don't believe in, nothing. That isn't the best of practices for you guys. So that's my trifecta plus one. Well, I hope this was useful. Please send me any other questions that you have regarding evening routine. Maybe next I can do that and there will be a detailed morning routine drop um coming soon to the new season of the curation. So thank you for listening guys, and talk to you guys soon. Bye.
